Bus 16

I forgot to take pictures, but anyway...
Today, I wasn't late. YAY! But Timothy was, and so we didn't have devotions until some time after he arrived...Today's devotions was led by Timothy, and it was rather unusual, because the passage was Song of Songs 3:1-4. We learnt that the desire the beloved had for the lover is similar to our longing of God, and His love. Yup. Then we sang this song that we had sung in da tang before, except that it was in English. When morning devotions ended, Liu Mu Shi came in to discuss with us some things about prayer meeting. We mainly talked about how we could improve attendance at prayer meetings and make it more relevant for youths. We then went to interview her about being a pastor, as part of our homework.
After that was lunch! We went to the same place as yesterday, and Liu Mu Shi treated us this time. Hehe, we keep getting treated to lunch! Yup then after lunch, we took bus 16 down to....somewhere in tiong bahru (near the tiong bahru pau place) to go to SKS bookstore. There was a lot of books! We then sat at one corner to choose the tracts that will be used for this saturday's beach evangilism. It took up a lot of time, and Tim spent more than 100 bucks!!! But it's all for a good purpose, so yup.
We had a long walk down to the bus stop and took bus 16 back to church. Then, after printing out a map of east coast park (I think), and trying to find out whether there was a direct bus there (it seems that bus 16 goes straight there too, but will take a long time) Rachel, Porlin and Timothy rushed there because they were running late. I went to photocopy our reading materials for the week (135 pages!!!!!) while Jia Xi wrote the post for Saturday. And now we are both waiting for adult choir to start.
Ok, that's all for today!

-Li Ting

Haha Li Ting wasn't here for this later part of the day! So it's up to me to post, after gideon's reminders hehe =) anw so we had bible study. Good thing about today was that even without gideon around, we could talk about alot of stuff over dinner, and we joked about alot of things actually! (sleepwalking...) and after some time, we started on the bible study, led by um, me! this is the bad part hahaha >< The first lesson we covered was spritual breathing, which is basically a technique by which we 'exhale' out our sins and fears, and inhale in the forgiveness of God, surrendering to the will of the Spirit. It isn't an actual breathing technique of course, but the term 'spiritual breathing' tells us what to do and demonstrates how to perform this technique yep. But in order to further develop our spiritual selves in this life, we have to do much more than this! And so the next lesson was about growing in a relationship with Christ, the whys and hows of it.

By growing in a relationship with Him, we realise the essence of eternal life! (John 17:3) God's first and greatest commandment is to 'love Him with all your heart, soul and mind' and this also leads us into a growing relationship with Him, and so we can see that we grow because it is only right for us to do so after we become Christians. There are four ways picked out of the Bible, and these four have to do with fulfilling the two greatest commandments left to us: Loving God and loving neighbours. Reading the Bible and praying fulfills the first, fellowship and evanglising the second.

Reading the Bible is essential, as 2 Timothy 3:16-17 describes. The benefits of teaching, rebuking, correcting, training and equpping are invaluable in our relationship with other brothers and sisters. Also the Bible is God's gift to us, a revealing of who He is, and what He wants us to do concerning life. If we truly realise that, it is only natural to read it and commit it to memory! But of course sometimes discerning the Bible isn't easy, with the literary style of the authors and such, as we all shared, but that doesn't mean we stop reading right! =)

We didnt='t have much time for the next three, because there wasn't much time left, but we learned something from each of them too!
Prayer is the only method by which we can speak with God, communicating with Him on such a personal level. And as we shared, maybe we have some difficulty praying at first, especially if we're born to be people of action and impatience, it takes eyes of faith to see the moving hand of God. But then as some of us also learn, once we start praying there seems to be an endless amount of things to be praying for, and of course the Spirit guides and leads us into giving the words to say.
Fellowship is vital for encouragement and experiencing love, and Hebrews 10: 24-25 . This is the reason why i go to and look forward to fellowship every sunday!
Evangelism is not easy at all, as some of us shared, because for one, we don't have the courage, and then if people aren't interested that makes it even harder! We also shared about the people we want to see saved the most, and may God give us strength, and most importantly may we be willing to take the first baby step. This saturday proves to be that step hmm!
