Rainy Day...

We began our day with Tim leading morning devotions. We first sang "How Deep the Father's Love For Us", which is a very nice and recent hymn! For most of us, it was our first time singing it. Then, we went to read Hebrews 10:19-25. Here's the passage:
"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope he profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
We first noted that the phrase "let us" keeps appearing in the passage. There was a reason for it --it was an exhortation by the writer. We then shared about our difficulties in fulfilling any of the "let us" 'commandments'. Preacher Gideon then challenged us into thinking about how verse 20 - "by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body," - was a reference to the Old Testament. It turns out that the curtain mentioned in the verse is a reference to the curtain in the temple of God. This curtain once separated the ark from the rest of the people, who were with sin. When Jesus died on the cross, the curtain tore into two. This meant that people could come to know and worship God personally through Christ, because He has provided the way.
And then, Rachel asked about the verse 25 - "Let us not give up meeting together...". Why do we meet together? It was to continue to encourage one another to live out God's love. And this means we should regularly attend church! Because it is a way for us to meet together, just like how it is instructed here.

After devotions, we went back upstairs to do...whatever we had to do. Tim, Jia Xi and Rachel were all doing their homework, Porlin was working on her welcoming ministry, and I was working on my music theory project. Then we went out for lunch with liu mu shi, yu zhu lao shi and shou juan lao shi at a shop on the left of the escalator towards the basement in Park Mall...Rachel and I saw a cockroach near the escalator! Yikes! But at least it wasn't anywhere near the food area. Oh and the food was quite good! =)

We then went back to church to grab umbrellas before following shou juan lao shi to Tecman at Bras Basah Complex. We were there for a million years.....not. But we spent a lot of time there looking at all the things they had! There were japanese Bibles, storybooks, very cheap 2-year planners, the usual Bibles and devotions, and many many other things. Shou Juan Lao Shi bought all the CNY cards there, while Porlin and Rachel bought a necklace. Then we went to some paper shop across the street to buy paper for Porlin's project. It was raining very heavily by then. We were there for a very very short time, much faster than when we were at Tecman. Haha. We then took a bus back to church.

Now, Porlin is still working on her project, the other 3 are still doing their homework, and I am here! Haha. At the same time, Preacher Gideon, Rachel and Porlin are all singing the same song....I don't know what song it is, but it's apparently from high school musical? Heh. Anyway, here are some photos and.....*drumroll* a VIDEO!

Looking busy?

Yet another person doing homework!!!

Porlin, Rachel and Tim are going to meet the biker gang for Bible Study later, while Jia Xi and I attend adult choir. That is all for now.

And now I have nothing to do, other than listening to the rest singing songs that I've never heard of....XDD
