"Prepare yourself and show me the shocked face!"

Music Lecture Theatre, SBC @ 4:25PM 20th Jan 2011
Hi everyone! Guess where I’m typing this blog post at? I’m at the Singapore Bible College(SBC)! All the way at Adam Rd (Near Hwa Chong Junior College)! We’re currently sitting in on a music performance. These students are currently studying music in SBC, in the fields of singing and piano. The amazing fact is that whatever they are singing and playing is in German! (And probably some other European languages that we all cannot identify) This may only be a performance for spectators like us but in actual fact it is like a review session where the two 'examiners' assess their singing and piano playing skills.
The Music Theatre!

What a sweet little pipe organ!:D

These two ladies are VERY professional in their fields! One of them is Sandra Shen, who majors in piano and comes from one of the most famous music schools in the world - Peabody Conservatory! The other lady is Shang-Chen Fu, an AMAZING soprano whom our Lord has blessed with the gift of a natural vibrato which can also be known as human resonance. She sings so well and naturally using rubato, which literally means "robbed." A style in which the strict tempo is temporarily loosened by either speeding up or slowing down. By not strictly keeping to the tempo and not counting the beats, she emphasizes that this will enable one to present to one's audience a very natural-sounding performance. Both Sandra and Shang-Chen Fu are very good and demanding teachers! We really pity some of the students' jaws after the review session! The photos below will show you the reason:
"Come take a deep breath..."

"Prepare yourself and show me the shocked face!"
"...and SING!"

"Oh no no that is not correct..."

"Open your mouth all the way (pokes cheek to remind students) and tongue up, yes"
Haha! Anyway, SBC is holding a musical performance TODAY! As in Friday (21st Jan)! The two ladies will be performing! SO COOL RIGHT! You should go too! It's free somemore!

Okay, so after the review performance we left SBC and headed home! But many things happened before that! It was such an exciting day! With free food and ICE CREAM!:D Sorry Gideon 传道 that you didn't get to join us! Nevermind, next time we'll let you have the honour of treating us! LOL!
So in the morning, Stephen led devotions by singing two of the very beautiful songs that Porlin and I have picked out for last Sunday's  fellowship worship time - 转回 & 你坐着为王. Stephen shared on the need to have a spiritual rebirth and not a physical rebirth like what Pharisees (a member of the Jewish Ruling Council) asked about to Jesus. Thus in order to walk with the Lord, we must believe in him and once we do that, we are being reborn into new beings in Christ. Although we are reborn, we still have to work towards being closer to the Lord by - like what Stephen said - seeking a connection to bridge one's relationship with God. This connection can come in many forms, it can be a particular event (in this case Timothy and Stephen talked about how Lifegame changed their lives), person, experience, or it can even just be a passion to serve the Lord!
After devotions, all of us went about doing our personal ministry projects. For me i went back to finishing up the words for the notice board! Look how pretty they are!

We were once like lost words..

yet now we are found and 'rearranged by Christ':D
So after that we met up with 以心传道 to have lunch before heading over to SBC for the performance! She brought us to Serene Centre, which was very near Hwa Chong Schools. We ate at this French Cafe called La Petite Cuisine, and MY MY, my ham spaghetti with thick creamy carbonara was simply DELICIOUS! Our chef was a real French who had been previously cooking at a posh French restaurant for many years! Here are some photos!

YUM YUM!

After the scrumptious lunch at La Petite Cuisine, we headed next door to Island Creamery for deserts! Their ice cream were, as always, very tasty and their mudpie was just fantastic! Here are somemore photos for you to drool over!

We really have to thank 以心传道 for treating us to such a fantastic meal! One of the best since we started this internship! Thank you 以心传道~!
Here's an interesting snippet! For these few days, the Hindu community in Singapore is celebrating Thaipusam, a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February). The parade stretches across town areas and some parts of it are right outside our church! Here are some interesting shots from Li Ting's fabulous camera!
Early in the morning!

In the hot sun at midday

Look at the number of buses! 6!
So these are actually weaved by hand!! What tedious work!

That's all for today! :D
