Tuesday! And it's back to work...

Worktime! The first thing i come in, i see all the other interns working hard at their laptops, and talking to each other of course! We didn't have devotions straight away in the morning because Li Ting was late, but it's alright you'll be able to treat us to even more stuff at graduation dinner! =D So we worked until 10.30 and then went down to the jiao mu meeting to again, listen and observe, or so we thought, because instead, Zhang mu shi walked over and assigned us something to do instead! =O
Basically he wanted us to compile statistics regarding the ratio of Christians to non-Christians in english speaking, chinese speaking, and dialect speaking families. So we went to singstats.gov.sg to find the numbers and percentages required! At first the task seemed easy, although it was tedious because we had to look through the huge numbers of different documents and whatnot, and good thing rachel helped to sort out and guide us all so that we could be looking at the same document! =) but then as we started calculating, we ran into a problem instead. Basically the website didn't give us enough information, and based on what we had, and what we came up with so far, it wasn't nearly enough to calculate and come up with an accurate ratio. We ran into a problem of needing to solve three unknowns! Sounds like a system of linear equations to me hahaha.

Since we couldn't figure out how to come up with the proper statistics, we decided to leave it as it is, and ask zhang mu shi for advice later on! Since he's the one who did it last year haha. In the meantime, rachel led devotions with us! First we sang the song 'make me a servant' exactly the same song as when she led last time! Hahaha. And then we went through Mark 2/Luke 5, the passage in which it talks about the paralytic and the four friends who dug through the roof and brought the paralytic right in front of Jesus. We learnt the importance of faith, and how we can learn from the four men's creative ways in proving their faith, digging through the roof and lowering him before Jesus. We then shared about the various creative ways in which we may have tried to show our faith and spread it to others. Rachel then gave the example of Harry, and how Seth and Joel got to talk to him about religion and stuff through shared biking experiences. Li ting and my experiences were similar in that we talked with our friends and in that discussion, the topic of God and religion came up, and we grabbed this chance to further talk about our faith!

Then we all went for lunch! At the stall beside Han's, and Mei Ling chuan dao was so nice, she treated everyone present to a meal! =O =D and i was quite struck by the way she did it, casual, on the spot, with no hint at all of any grumbling or complaining, without much of a reason except as a passing joke. This makes me think that: if we are already justified and born again in the Spirit, and whatever things we do proceeds from our nature, then we do not have to make a huge self-conscious effort to be continually do good for God and for others, because we already are good by nature, so these things should come naturally. Of course this doesn't mean that man't corruption is gone, for there still exists a process of sanctification, but we can walk by faith and in the spirit, and not wholly rely on our own hands.

Anyway, pictures!!

So after that, we and seth (who joined us later) went to watsons to buy some sweets, and the rest of the jiao mus went off. We came back, and poor rachel had to go through devotions again! Heh but at least seth and gideon got to hear it right, that's not something too bad! =) devotions was largely the same, and seth even shared the same thing as rachel just now! One thing i learned then was that it's easier to talk to people if they feel they are in a natural environment where they can be comfortable. So it is important to read and understand people before we attempt to communicate more deeply with them too! Gideon added on his point by saying that while the story of the 4 men and the paralytic is great, we should not forget that their story points to Christ and His healing power, so we should not seek to be like the 4 men, but we should seek Christ for His healing instead. All passages point to Christ, who forms the centrepiece of the story of the Bible! Yay Crosstalk haha.

After that, gideon had an appointment with his brother, who is a dental surgeon and agreed to look at seth's teeth! Cause his teeth had a bit of a problem, God bless bro! =) So gideon went off to see his brother with seth at around 3, and dismissed us interns for the day! Yup so that's it for the day, seeyou! :)
