Half asleep....

Good times together

Third day of the internship! This marked the end of our stay in the chalet. In the morning, we, Ji Dian Chuan Dao and the girls, decided to not wait for the guys and headed for the bowling alley to eat breakfast. However, the cafe there had not yet opened, so we had to turn back. We then checked out of the chalet and took a taxi to Funan to eat breakfast instead.
The Boys are exhausted after the chalet
After breakfast, we walked all the way to the Bible House to listen to Hong Li Chuan Dao talk about our church and the congregation at Bible House. We learnt:
1. The premises of the Bible House congregation is a fusion of both tradition and contemporary design. This is because heritage must be preserved even as we move along with the times.
2. Why the 讲台 in the Orchard Road premises is on stage right! Its part of the Scottish design that had been passed down from then to now.
3. That PPCFC is aiming to be family-oriented. We also learnt of its purpose: 培育基督的仆人,装备社区的领袖。
4. That PPCFC is targeting youths and undergrads/university students. This is done by "enticing" them with free internet access as well as refreshments.
and many more....
After a tour around the place, we were given a short quiz about the history of our church! It was, unfortunately, very badly done because we just could not remember the various important dates. But I'm sure we'll be able to do better by the end of our internship!
Thereafter, we walked back to church and dumped our luggage there, then walked up to the Presbyterian HQ 基督教新加坡长老大会. We listened to an Elder talk about the Presbyterian Church while we ate lunch.
First of all, the structure:
The Synod 大会 is like the "head", and then it spilits into the English Presbytery 英文中会 and the Chinese Presbytery 华文中会. All the churches then belong to either the EP or the CP.
Then, the Elder talked about John Calvin, the originator of the reformation movement, and a little about Calvinism.
He also told us about the "I Love Asia" programme that is currently ongoing. Next year, the theme is "I Love Singapore"! And it coincides nicely with the 130th anniversary of the Presbyterian Church in Singapore! Haha.
After the approximately 1 hour long talk, Elder kindly drove us back to church. Most of us then went home from there, and this marks the end of Day 3.
