THE BEGINNING

IN THE BEGINNING, GOD CREATED HEAVEN & EARTH.
And HUMANS later on.

So here we are, the LORD's INTERNS!

Yup so here's the new blog for us to record down our church internship journey!

It's quite cool actually, when your friends ask: "who are you working for?", you can reply them with: "I work for GOD" :D Of course not just any God, but for the ONE and ONLY.

So let's enjoy these 2 months working together FOR and WITH the Lord!
On monday, 6th december 2010, in the not-so-wee hours of the morning at around 10am plus, we watched a video on the history of our church, 长老会恩泽堂Providence Presbyterian Church (PPC)! Our church was actually of Scottish origin, and intially became a church exclusively for foreigners of European descent. This soon posed as a problem because it did not serve the purpose of spreading the gospel and inhibited other people living in Singapore an opportunity to attend church to know God better. This is mainly because these people neither spoke nor understood English or any European languages. In the later years, as the number of Chinese immigrants in Singapore increased trememdously, many churches that provided congregations in dialects were set up. As such, 陈祥康牧师 saw the importance of holding a permanent church service in Chinese in Singapore. Thus, after many years of discussions and proposals, a Chinese speaking church service was set up at the then 乌节路长老会Orchard Road Presbyterian Church (ORPC). This became the FIRST Presbyterian Chinese church service in Singapore! It sure was and still is an honour for us!:D
Later on, 张牧师 gave a very interesting and enlightening speech about the changes that our church has experienced in recent years. From his speech, we then knew that our church used to own the land that the Carlton Hotel now occupies, but due to poor decision-making, the land was unfortunately sold and now the value of the land is beyond our imaginations. >.<
Another learning point from his speech was that our church has constantly been very active in  evangelism宣教事工, both in Singapore and overseas, especially in neighbouring SEAsian countries. 张牧师 is a pioneer of many of the overseas missionary trips to countries like Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand. He is now in charge of PPC's 中国宣教事工, which was previously managed by 陈清福牧师.
张牧师 later treated us lunch at Han's! What a gentleman! Timothy, you better learn from him! HAHA! :D
After lunch, we went over to 绍珍姐妹's (aka Cooking Ma Ma) house to discuss the lunch menu for  Tuesday. Our first assignment as PPC interns is to cook for our church's 教牧! Our job scope is sure interesting! We sure had fun deciding on the dishes! Timothy even wanted to cook her dog, Bacon! Naughty boy >:{
So that was all for our first day at work! We're now sure to look forward to more interesting job assignments in these upcoming 2 months! :D
